BIRTH PREPAREDNESS OUTREACH TO PREGNANT WOMEN
Hand of Favor Global Care & Support Foundation, a self-sponsored non-profit organization
who has been sponsoring themselves since 2011, has embarked on a birth preparedness
outreach in Collaboration with FSP, and have provided over 200 pregnant women with
materials for birth preparation in Makurdi, on Saturday, 22nd of April 2023, at Benue State
The mission of Hand of Favor Global Care and Support Foundation isto provide aid and access
to quality education, efficiently through sponsorships, teaching of life skills, adoption, and to
help children and young people build up self-esteem. However, you can’t really talk about
children without their mothers because mothers are the backbone of the children, hence why
the outreach was focused on the expecting mothers.
The birth preparedness and complication readiness is a comprehensive package aimed at
promoting timely access to skilled maternal and neonatal services, as well as encouraging
pregnant women and their familiesto actively prepare and make decisions about the delivery
On behalf of the Foundation, the outreach was executed by the team doctors Dr. Adiku and
Dr. Clement, and the company of some medical students from Benue State Teaching hospital.Some of the benefits for the outreach includes promoting safe motherhood strategy, thereby
providing skilled birth attendance, by helping women and their family plan for childbirth. It
also aims to educate mothers on how to care for their newborn and prevent neonatal illness.Chief Tedus Ande-ager (Za’aki) the community chief who was present at the event expressed
his gratitude to Hand of Favor Global Care and Support Foundation, and thanked them for
their kind gesture towards providing the items for the pregnant women in his community.
Matron Adzuu a very vibrant popular woman and also the matron in charge of FSP also made
the outreach fun and entertaining for the pregnant women present. She engaged them in a
small dancing exercise and also educated the women on how best to prepare for their
expecting babies and their bodies as well. She also encouraged them to always eat healthy
and try to exercise their bodies.
Some of the items distributed to the women includes; Olive oil, examination gloves, surgical
gloves, mucous extractor, chlorhexidine gel, cord clamp, under pad, liquid Dettol, razor
blades, and a few others. A few of the beneficiaries also expressed their gratitude to Hand of
Favor Global Care & Support Foundation for the gesture and said the materials will go a long
way in helping them prepare for their expecting child
