In an unprecedented move to address the dire food situation at the Internally Displaced Persons
(IDP) camp in Markurdi, Benue State, Nigeria, Hand of Favor Global launched the Manner
Project 1.0. This initiative marked the first step in their ambitious plan to establish a food bank
that would cater to the needs of displaced communities and be replicated in other locations. It
is a visionary endeavor, aimed at eradicating hunger and ensuring food security for all.
The IDP camp, home to three thousand (3,000) individuals and families who have been
uprooted from their homes due to various crises, is a place where people often live in vulnerable
conditions, struggling to secure their daily sustenance. Many lack job opportunities to earn a
living, making it challenging for them to feed themselves and their families.
The Manna Project 1.0 was inspired by the biblical tale of manna, the miraculous food that
sustained the Israelites in their time of need. It’s aim is to bring hope to the camp’s residents.
Members/Volunteers from Hand of Favor Global worked tirelessly to distribute food supplies
to the beneficiaries. The atmosphere at the camp was one of anticipation and gratitude as
recipients queued up to receive the much-needed assistance.
The Foundation’s representative, spoke passionately about the project’s objectives and its
potential to make a lasting impact on the lives of those residing in the IDP camp. “The Manna
Project is more than just providing meals; it’s about restoring dignity and hope to these resilient
individuals. We understand the challenges they face daily, and this initiative is just our way to
support them.”
The Manner Food Project 1.0 not only provided much-needed sustenance but also served as a
beacon of hope for the IDP camp community. It showcased the potential of well-organized and
compassionate initiatives to uplift the lives of vulnerable populations and instill a sense of selfreliance.
As the Manna Food Project 1.0 concluded at the Markurdi IDP camp, the impact of the
initiative was evident on the faces of the beneficiaries. With renewed hope and strengthened
resolve, the residents look forward to a better tomorrow, empowered by the support they
received.
